Overview
The Acropolis of Athens is a rocky hill topped with ancient monuments built during the 5th century BCE under Pericles. The site includes the Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of Athena Nike. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most visited attraction in Greece. The Acropolis Museum sits at the foot of the hill and displays sculptures and artifacts from the site. Acropolis archaeological site: tickets and hours
The Acropolis archaeological site opens from 08:00 to 17:00 in winter (1 November to 31 March) and 08:00 to 20:00 in summer (1 April to 31 October). Last entrance is 30 minutes before closing. From 1 September, closing time gradually reduces by 30 minutes every two weeks as daylight shortens. Full admission is EUR 30 and reduced admission is EUR 15. Tickets are available at on-site ticket offices and through the official e-ticketing service at hhticket.gr. The site is closed on 1 January, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May, and 25-26 December. On Good Friday, it is open from 12:00 to 17:00. On Orthodox Holy Saturday, it is open from 08:30 to 15:30. The North Slope site has separate hours from 08:30 to 15:30 starting 1 November 2025. The toilets inside the site are under renovation; visitors should use the toilets to the right and left of the central entrance before entering.
Acropolis Museum: tickets and hours
The Acropolis Museum is open Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00 in winter (1 November to 31 March) and Monday 09:00 to 17:00, Tuesday to Sunday 09:00 to 20:00 in summer (1 April to 31 October). On Fridays, the museum stays open until 22:00 in both seasons. The archaeological excavation beneath the museum follows the same hours. General admission is EUR 20 and reduced admission is EUR 10. Free admission applies on 6 March, 25 March, 18 May, and 28 October. Tickets are available at the museum ticket desk or through the e-ticketing service at etickets.theacropolismuseum.gr. Reduced and free admission tickets can only be obtained at the museum ticket desk with the required eligibility documents. The museum is closed on 1 January, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May, and 25-26 December. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the museum is open from 09:00 to 15:00.

The Acropolis is in central Athens. The nearest metro station is Akropoli on Line 2. The Acropolis Museum is at Dionysiou Areopagitou 15, a short walk from the Acropolis entrance. City bus routes 24, 40, 57, 103, 106, 108, 111, 126, 134, 135, 136, 137, 155, 206, 208, 227, 230, 237, 790, 856, and A2, A3, A4, B2, B3, B4, E2, E22 stop at Makrigianni near the museum. Trolley lines 1, 5, and 15 also stop at Makrigianni. The tram station at Leoforos Vouliagmenis is nearby. Visitors with mobility difficulties can use elevators at the museum.
